Dewa Yudha

Biography

Dewa Yudha is Indonesia's most prominent polo figure and the key architect of competitive polo's establishment in the archipelago. Rated at 3 goals — a significant achievement for a player from a country where polo infrastructure has historically been limited — Yudha has been instrumental in establishing the Nusantara Polo Club and building a framework for organised polo in Indonesia. His efforts have contributed to Indonesia's emergence on the regional Asian polo circuit, where Indonesian players have begun competing at FIP Asian Championship events and in bilateral matches with neighbouring polo nations. Working with the Indonesian Equestrian Federation, Yudha has helped navigate the administrative and regulatory processes needed to establish polo as a recognised sport within Indonesia's broader equestrian framework. Yudha has competed in regional polo events across Southeast Asia, facing opponents from Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore — countries that represent the growing polo community across ASEAN. His international exposure has also taken him to Australia, where he has trained and competed, and to the UAE, where the Gulf polo model has provided inspiration for how to develop patron-led polo in an emerging market. Beyond his playing career, Yudha is a passionate advocate for polo's growth in Southeast Asia, working with FIP's Asia development programme to secure funding and technical support for Indonesian polo. He is credited with putting Indonesia on the international polo map and is considered one of the sport's most important developmental figures in the region.
