Biography
Felipe Viana is Uruguay's most prominent polo ambassador on the South American circuit, a 6-goal player who has competed across Argentina, Uruguay, and internationally with a consistency and quality that has made him one of the most respected players to emerge from Uruguayan polo in recent years. Uruguay has a long polo tradition rooted in its gaucho culture and estancia farming heritage, and Viana is a product of that tradition — he is an exceptional horseman with the calm authority and tactical intelligence that characterises players shaped by the South American estancia environment. He competes regularly in Argentine high-goal polo alongside players of AAP 8-goal and above, holding his own in an environment that is widely considered the most demanding in the world. He has also competed at the South American Open and represented Uruguay at international FIP level, where he has been one of his country's most consistent contributors. Away from the highest levels, Viana is an important figure in the development of Uruguayan polo domestically, working with younger players and helping to raise standards within the APU structure. His career represents both the achievement of Uruguayan polo and its potential for future growth at the international level.
