Biography
Pablo Pieres is one of Argentina's finest polo players and a cornerstone of the legendary Ellerstina team, completing the Pieres family's extraordinary presence at the top of world polo alongside his brother Facundo and cousin Nico. Born into the Pieres polo dynasty in Buenos Aires province, Pablo developed under the tutelage of his father Gonzalo Pieres Sr., himself a 10-goal legend, learning the fundamentals on the family estancia before progressing through Argentina's rigorous junior circuits. Rated at 10-goal by the Asociación Argentina de Polo — the sport's highest honour — Pablo first established himself as an elite force in the Argentine Open, competing in multiple Triple Crown campaigns with Ellerstina through the 2000s and 2010s. His playing style is characterised by exceptional elegance and technical precision; coaches and peers alike have cited his clean ball-striking and flawless technique as among the most aesthetically accomplished in the professional game. He combines the natural horsemanship of his family background with a tactical intelligence that makes him equally dangerous from every position on the field. Internationally, Pablo has competed extensively on the English high-goal circuit, representing top-level teams at Guards Polo Club and Cowdray Park during the British summer season. His performances in the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup and King Power Gold Cup cemented his reputation among European polo enthusiasts as a complete player of the highest calibre. He has also played in the USA, participating in USPA high-goal events and the US Open Polo Championship. As a member of the Ellerstina team, Pablo was part of one of polo's most celebrated professional combinations, competing in fierce rivalry with La Dolfina and other top Argentine teams in the Triple Crown. His contributions to multiple Argentine Open campaigns, Copa Hurlingham, and Copa Abierta de Palermo are a testament to his consistency at the very highest level across more than two decades of professional play.
