    Our Methodology

How we collect, verify, and maintain pricing and club information for accuracy and transparency.

    Data Collection

Our club information is gathered from multiple sources to ensure accuracy:

    • Direct submissions from club owners and managers
    • Official association directories (HPA, AAP, USPA, etc.)
    • Club websites and published materials
    • Verified user reports from the polo community
    • On-site verification for featured clubs

    Pricing Accuracy

Pricing information is one of the most valuable—and challenging—aspects of our directory:

    • All prices are displayed in local currency as reported by clubs
    • USD equivalents use snapshot exchange rates noted on each listing
    • Price ranges reflect typical minimums and maximums, not every possible option
    • Prices are updated when clubs report changes or during periodic reviews
    • Always confirm current rates directly with clubs before booking

    Update Frequency

Keeping information current is an ongoing process:

    • Featured clubs: Reviewed quarterly
    • Standard listings: Reviewed annually or upon user report
    • Country/regional content: Updated with each polo season
    • Rules and regulations: Updated when official changes are announced

Each listing displays a "Last Updated" date so you know when information was last verified.

    Verification Levels

We use a tiered verification system:

    ✓ Verified Clubs

Information confirmed directly with club management or through official association records. These clubs have been actively verified by our team.

    Claimed Listings

Club representatives have taken ownership of their listing and can update information directly. We verify the claimant's connection to the club.

    Standard Listings

Information gathered from public sources and user submissions. Accuracy is maintained through community feedback and periodic reviews.

    Important Disclaimers

    • Prices and availability change frequently. Always verify with clubs directly.
    • Exchange rates fluctuate. USD equivalents are indicative only.
    • We are not affiliated with any clubs unless explicitly stated.
    • Listing on our directory does not constitute endorsement.
    • Polo carries inherent risks. Ensure proper training and insurance.

    Our Sources

World Polo Guide is built on data from the sport's principal governing bodies. We link to official sources so readers can verify information at the primary level.

    Federation of International Polo (FIP)

Global governing body. Primary source for international tournament results, world ranking data, and rule standardisation.

    United States Polo Association (USPA)

Governing body for US polo. Source for North American club listings, handicap ratings, and tournament data.

    Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA)

UK and international governing body. Source for British Isles club registrations, player handicaps, and rules of the game.

    Australian Polo Association (AAP)

Governing body for Australian polo. Source for Asia-Pacific club data and regional tournament records.

In addition to the above, national polo associations in Argentina (AAP), South Africa (SAPA), and India (IPA) are referenced for regionally specific club and tournament data.

    Community Contributions

Much of our most current data comes from the polo community itself — club managers, players, and enthusiasts who know the ground truth better than any automated scraper. Here is how submissions feed into the data pipeline.

    1

    User Submission

Anyone can submit a new club, report an error, or nominate a player through the site's submission forms. Submissions are logged with a timestamp and the submitter's email for follow-up.

    2

    Initial Triage

Our data team reviews submissions for completeness and plausibility within 5 business days. Submissions that pass triage are queued for verification; those that fail are returned to the submitter with feedback.

    3

    Source Verification

The data team cross-checks the submission against at least one primary source (official website, federation registry, or direct club contact). For club claims, the manager must verify their identity before the "Claimed" badge is applied.

    4

    Publication & Credit

Verified data is published, and the contributor is credited in the page change log. Community reporters who consistently submit accurate data are invited to join our trusted contributor programme.

    Technology & Infrastructure

Our data infrastructure is purpose-built for reliability, accuracy, and speed across a global audience.

    Database

Supabase PostgreSQL — row-level security, real-time subscriptions, and automated daily backups. Hosted on AWS infrastructure with multi-region redundancy.

    Update Frequency

The search index is rebuilt nightly. Club records updated by managers or verified by the data team are reflected in search within 15 minutes.

    Global Delivery

Static pages are served via a global CDN. Dynamic club and player data is fetched from the nearest edge region to minimise latency for international users.
