About
Calgary Polo Academy is Western Canada's leading polo learning facility, introducing players to the sport against the dramatic backdrop of the Canadian Rockies visible on clear days from the Alberta foothills where the academy operates. Calgary has a proud polo heritage stretching back to the late nineteenth century when ranching families and British settlers brought the game to the prairies, and the Calgary Polo Club — one of Canada's oldest — provides the context within which the academy operates. CPC-certified instruction covers beginner through competitive levels, with well-schooled horses and experienced coaches who understand the particular demands of playing polo in Alberta's climate — a short but intense summer season that runs from May through September. The academy attracts students from Calgary's business and energy sector community as well as ranching families from across the province for whom horsemanship is already a natural part of life.
