About the Tournament

The Hurlingham Open is the second leg of the prestigious Argentine Triple Crown, the holy grail of world polo. Played annually at the Hurlingham Club in Buenos Aires province — one of the oldest and most celebrated polo clubs in South America — the tournament has been contested since 1893 and stands as one of the oldest polo championships in the world. The Hurlingham grounds are legendary: lush Pampas grass fields maintained to the highest standard, accommodating teams competing at up to 40 goals of combined handicap. The tournament attracts the world's finest players, with La Dolfina, Ellerstina, La Natividad, and other elite Argentine teams battling for a title that sits just below the Argentine Open in prestige but is considered by many players as the most technically demanding of the three Crown events due to the demanding schedule it occupies in the season. Winning the Hurlingham Open is a statement of a team's depth and consistency, and a victory here has historically signalled title contention for the Open that follows weeks later.
