The Deauville Gold Cup is the centrepiece of the French polo season, staged each August at the Deauville polo grounds in Normandy during the famous Deauville August festival that brings together horse racing, film, casino, and sea bathing in one of Europe's most glamorous seasonal destinations. Contested at high-goal level with top Argentine professionals, the Gold Cup is France's most prestigious polo tournament and one of Europe's most socially prominent sporting events. The Normandy setting — green fields behind the Côte Fleurie beach, an hour from Paris — gives the event a distinctly French elegance.
