    Polo in Germany

The German Polo Assocication (DPV) is a players' association that brings together the legally responsible polo clubs in Germany and their members. The DPV has set itself the task of promoting the sport of polo and representing the interests of its members. The association ensures that tournaments and championships are conducted properly and that the rules and regulations are generally observed. German polo continues to develop steadily – athletically, structurally, and as a community. Once again, we can look forward to exciting tournaments, dedicated organizers, and many opportunities to experience polo in all its facets: competitive, fair, and driven by a genuine passion for both horse and sport. A special focus remains on the national and international presence of our sport. German teams and players are regularly represented at international tournaments, proudly carrying the name of the DPV beyond our borders. At the same time, it remains our goal to offer attractive domestic competitions and German Championships of a consistently high sporting standard. Youth development continues to be a central pillar of our association’s work.

    Polo in Germany

Germany has a well-organised polo scene governed by the Deutscher Polo Verband (DPV). The season runs from May through September, with the major concentration of activity in Berlin, Hamburg, and the surrounding regions. Notable summer events include the German Polo Masters, played at venues in Berlin and on the island of Sylt. The Polo Club Berlin-Mitte and Polo Club Hamburg are among the better-known venues. Germany's polo community draws from a strong equestrian culture and a network of medium-goal clubs that offer lessons and chukka play to both resident and visiting players.

    Bentheimer Polo- und Country Club

    ,

Bentheimer Polo- und Country Club is Germany's premier polo venue in the western region, situated in the Lower Saxony countryside near the Dutch border. The club occupies an expansive estate and hosts some of the best polo grounds in northern Europe, drawing players and teams from Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium across a busy summer season. Its position straddling the Dutch border makes it a natural hub for Benelux polo, and the club has developed strong ties with the Royal Dutch Polo Association (KNPV) and German Polo Association (DPA). The tournament calendar includes the renowned Bentheimer International, which attracts high-goal teams from across Europe. The estate's country club atmosphere — combining sport with gastronomy and accommodation — makes it a favourite destination for polo weekends. With multiple full-size grass pitches, a training ground, stabling facilities, and a well-appointed clubhouse, Bentheimer represents the finest tradition of continental estate polo in a border region with a long equestrian heritage.

    Sylt Polo Club

    ,

Sylt Polo Club is Germany's most glamorous polo destination, located on the exclusive North Sea island of Sylt — Germany's premier luxury holiday resort, known for its windswept beaches, designer boutiques, and sophisticated social scene. The club is best known as the home of the Beachpolo World Cup, one of polo's most spectacular and photographed events, in which matches are played on the beach itself with the North Sea as a backdrop — a format that has made Sylt polo internationally famous and attracted attention from fashion, luxury, and media industries across Europe. Beyond the beach polo spectacle, Sylt Polo Club also hosts the German Masters and operates a broader polo programme on the island's grass grounds. The social calendar around Sylt polo events is among the most glamorous in European sport, with hospitality events attracting celebrities, fashion brands, and media from across Germany and beyond. The island's exclusive character — Sylt is accessible only by train across a causeway or by plane, giving it a naturally exclusive feel — perfectly complements polo's image as a sport of sophistication and luxury. For players and spectators alike, polo on Sylt is as much about the experience and the setting as the sport itself.
