    Johor Polo Club

    , Malaysia

Johor Polo Club is one of Malaysia's most prestigious polo institutions, operating under the patronage of the Royal House of Johor — one of Malaysia's most powerful and influential royal families, whose connection to equestrian sports reflects centuries of Malay aristocratic tradition. Located in Johor, the southernmost state of peninsular Malaysia bordering Singapore, the club enjoys a setting that bridges Malaysia's lush tropical landscape with the cosmopolitan influence of its proximity to one of Asia's great city-states. The royal household's involvement provides the club with both resources and prestige that distinguish it from commercially driven polo clubs. Horses are maintained to a high standard, grounds are well-kept in Malaysia's tropical conditions, and the club's calendar reflects the royal family's genuine enthusiasm for polo as a sport rather than merely a social occasion. Johor Polo Club participates in the Malaysian polo circuit, competing in national championships and hosting regional events that draw players from across Malaysia, Singapore, and the broader Southeast Asian polo community. The club's royal associations attract visiting patron teams from the Gulf states — where the polo-royalty connection resonates deeply — and from the United Kingdom, where royal and aristocratic polo traditions find their natural counterparts. For polo enthusiasts visiting Malaysia, Johor Polo Club offers an authentic experience of royal Malay polo culture, combining the sport's international traditions with the distinctive hospitality and ceremonial character of a club operating under active royal patronage.

    Royal Malaysian Polo Association Club

    Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Royal Malaysian Polo Association Club (RMPA Club) is the home ground of polo governance in Malaysia and the centrepiece of the country's national polo circuit. Established under the patronage of Malaysia's royal families — whose connection to polo dates to the colonial era — the club serves as both the administrative headquarters of Malaysian polo and the primary competitive venue for the national circuit's most prestigious events. Malaysia's royal polo tradition is among the most distinctive in Asian polo: the country's hereditary rulers have historically been among the sport's most committed patrons, and the RMPA's royal patronage provides the club with a ceremonial and social prestige that distinguishes it from the country's other polo venues. Royal participation in the sport at the RMPA Club has given Malaysian polo a visibility and social status that supports the sport's continued development in a country where equestrian sports face significant infrastructure and cultural challenges. The club hosts the key events of the Malaysian polo calendar, attracting the country's best players and occasional international guests from Singapore, Thailand, and other Asian polo nations. Its role as the national circuit hub ensures that the RMPA Club is at the centre of Malaysian polo's developmental agenda, including junior player development, national team selection, and coordination with the Asian Polo Federation and the FIP on international matters affecting Malaysian polo.

    Royal Selangor Polo Club

    , Malaysia

Royal Selangor Polo Club, founded in 1902, is one of Southeast Asia's oldest and most prestigious polo institutions, operating under the patronage of the Royal Malaysian Air Force and maintaining a tradition of polo that predates Malaysian independence. Set in Kuala Lumpur's established equestrian zone, the club has been the venue for some of Malaysian polo's most significant competitive events, including the annual Sultan's Cup — one of the region's most prestigious polo trophies. The club's membership reflects both Malaysia's traditional equestrian elite and the country's growing professional and corporate polo community, and its grounds provide the primary competitive polo venue in the Klang Valley. Royal Selangor's role within the Malaysian polo calendar and its connections to the FIP Asian polo circuit make it the reference institution for polo governance and development in the country.

    Sabah Polo Club

    , Malaysia

The Sabah Polo Club brings polo to Malaysian Borneo, operating in Kota Kinabalu — the capital of Sabah state on the northern tip of Borneo island — and representing Southeast Asia's most geographically remote polo outpost. In a region where polo is exceptionally rare, the Sabah club serves a community of expatriates, local elite families, and equestrian enthusiasts who have created a polo tradition in one of the world's most biodiverse and spectacular natural environments. Playing polo in Sabah means competing within sight of Mount Kinabalu — Southeast Asia's highest peak — and in a climate shaped by the equatorial rainforest that covers much of Borneo. The logistical challenges of maintaining polo in this environment — importing or breeding suitable ponies, maintaining grounds in a year-round tropical climate, sustaining the membership numbers required for regular play — make the existence of the Sabah Polo Club a genuine achievement of will and passion for the sport. The club connects to the broader Malaysian polo circuit through the Royal Malaysian Polo Association and participates in national-level events that bring Sabah into contact with the more established polo communities of Peninsular Malaysia. For polo visitors to Borneo — a destination increasingly popular for wildlife tourism, diving, and cultural exploration — the Sabah Polo Club offers an extraordinary and unique polo experience in one of the world's most magnificent natural settings.
