    What is Beach Polo?

Beach polo is a variant of the traditional equestrian sport of polo, adapted for play on hard-packed sand rather than grass turf. The format evolved to take advantage of coastal event locations and beach resort venues, creating a visually spectacular version of the sport that combines competitive polo with the glamour of beach settings.

First played in significant form in the early 2000s, beach polo has grown into a global event format with major tournaments on multiple continents. Miami Beach, Dubai, and St Tropez are among the most recognisable venues.

The core skills of polo — riding, mallet technique, team play, and tactical understanding — remain the same. What changes is the environment, format, and the event experience.
