Wicklow Polo Club

Wicklow Polo Club brings polo to the breathtaking landscape of County Wicklow — often called the Garden of Ireland for its extraordinary combination of wooded glens, rolling hills, coastal headlands, and the dramatic Wicklow Mountains that rise above the county's interior. Situated within easy reach of Dublin, the club serves the eastern Irish polo circuit while providing a setting of genuine natural beauty that distinguishes it from more urban polo venues. The club operates within the Leinster polo circuit, the most active in Ireland, connecting with clubs in Dublin, Kildare, and the broader east of the country. Wicklow's proximity to the capital — approximately an hour's drive from Dublin city centre — makes it an accessible option for Dublin-based polo enthusiasts who prefer a more rural setting for their polo activities. Wicklow Polo Club's membership draws from the county's equestrian community — which is extensive, given Wicklow's tradition in show jumping and eventing as well as polo — and from the professional and business community that has increasingly relocated to the county as Dublin's growth has extended southward along the east coast. The club's social character reflects this blend of traditional country sporting values and contemporary suburban sophistication. The club's grounds, set against the background of the Wicklow Mountains and benefiting from the county's abundant rainfall, are maintained to a competitive standard that allows it to host inter-club matches and participate meaningfully in the Irish polo season. Wicklow represents the best of Irish provincial polo: accessible, beautifully located, and deeply connected to the local community it serves.
