Meadow Brook Polo Club

Meadow Brook Polo Club carries the distinction of being one of the oldest polo clubs in the United States, with a history stretching back to 1881 when polo was first introduced to the Long Island Gold Coast by wealthy New York families who had encountered the game in England. Located in Old Westbury, Nassau County, Meadow Brook became the centre of American polo's gilded age — hosting international test matches, the Westchester Cup against England, and tournaments that drew the cream of New York society. The estates and polo grounds of Long Island's North Shore were the backdrop for some of polo's most storied moments in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and Meadow Brook was at the heart of it all. Though the club's scale has changed over a century, it retains its connection to that extraordinary heritage.
