Biography
Luc Poels is the Netherlands' finest polo player and a driving force behind the growth of high-goal polo in the Low Countries. Raised around the Dutch equestrian tradition, Poels developed a powerful, tactical style of play that has earned him a 5-goal handicap rating with the Royal Dutch Polo Association (KNPV). As captain of the Dutch national polo team, he has led the Netherlands in multiple FIP European Championships and international competitions, putting Dutch polo firmly on the continental map. A Polo Club Amsterdam regular, Poels has competed across the European circuit from Germany to Spain, playing alongside some of the sport's elite professionals. His commitment to developing Dutch polo infrastructure — from club facilities to youth academies — makes him as important off the field as on it.
